Kardashian Minus Reggie Bush?

Yesterday I read on OMG! that Kim Kardashian and Reggie bush Split! The starlet's spokeswoman has just confirmed that this is in fact true, and not a rumor.

The two, Kim who is 28 and Reggie, 24, dated for over two years. A long time in Hollywood standards.

I really thought they were a cute couple and seemed great for each other. Too bad it didn't work out. Hopefully both of them are happy though, that's all that matters.

I was Quoted in the NY Post!

I was that kid in high school that knew what she wanted to be when she grew up--a journalist. Inevitably I went directly into that major in college. The only time I faltered is when I couldn't get my classes and was forced to spend an extra year in college. Instead of giving up on my dream, I added a second major, American Studies. So I guess it wasn't that bad, I got two degrees out of the inconvienence =)

Anyways, my last job I was definately in a journalism postion. I wrote articles and was a managing editor for a successful blog. Now, not so much. I get to write here on JTG, but it's not the same. This blog is really casual of course.

So last week you can imagine my surprise and excitement when I was contacted by a writer at the NY Post (famous for Page Six)! I was asked to do an interview regarding a taping of the upcoming movie "Funny People."

At the begining of the year I had the opportunity to see Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, and countless comedians do standup in LA which would be used for the movie. Somehow the NY Post writer came across my blog post (read it here) and wanted to get my insight into the night!

Of course I agreed and did the interview, which came out this past Sunday. Unfortunately he must have not liked the movie because the article wasn't exactly positive. My quote used wasn't the best out of all that I provided, but it was used to accomplish what he was going for I guess.

Check out the NY Post article now to see my five seconds of online quotage fame =)

Also, be sure to catch the flick this weekend when it opens in theaters.

Here's a video of one of the actors, Aziz Ansari, in character, playing Raaaaaaaandy (that's with eight A's). He's so hilarious, even though the jokes are pretty dirty. I hear he isn't in the movie much, but I give him props for being such a "funny person."

You Light Up My Life

My birthday is approaching and I will be having friends over, many for the first time. Well I want to make a great first impression so I thought I should actually decorate my patio, which I sadly have yet to use. Look how lonely the patio is...which is mere yards away from the complex pool that I also haven't used either.

A quick way to spruce up the space? Outdoor lighting courtesy of Target!

This is the lighting that I went with. I chose it because the look of the lights goes well with my iron and the design on it.

Here are some more sets of lights. I really wanted all of them because they are all so adorable:

A Beautiful Bridal Shower

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of attending a bridal shower that was thrown for a good friend of mine. Her "maids' did a great job decorating. Everything was so colorful and bright. The theme was daisies and it translated to everything, including the yummy treats. I wanted to post some pictures so everyone could see how pretty, yet not too incredibly difficult, it would be to do a daisy-themed shower.

(My friend Megan, me, and my mom)

(The centerpieces and favors. The potted flower is a pen)

(The mountain of cupcakes and the delicious frosted brownies with chocolate covered strawberries on top!!)

Hope everyone had a great weekend and is having a bright and cheery week!

FTP Winner!

(It was my 1st time using this generator, don't know why the results cleared after I published...)

Thank you to all who entered the French Tip Dip contest! To be fair, I entered the number of people who wanted to participate into the Random.org True Random Number Generator. Those who blogged about this giveaway received two entries. The results was number 23: Good Girl Gone Shopping!

As I said, I wanted to be COMPLETELY fair. It just so happens that the winner is my previous boss, Elana. This amazing lady is not only creator of Good Girl Gone Shopping and Beauty Chat (she gave me the position of managing editor of that amazing blog), but she is also the editor of PlasticSurgery.com and a personal shopper. Additionally, in her spare time--which I don't know how she has any--Elana is the managing editor of Closet Mouse, women's fashion editor of Chic Galleria, fashion columnist and staff writer of Agenda Magazine, and contributor forManhattanite Blog...whew! Hope I didn't leave anything out!

Thanks to all who entered this contest. Stay tuned for more giveaways in the future!

The Perfect Little Non-Black Dress

It's summer so I need to liven things up a bit in the wardrobe department. I tend to be drawn to black clothing, but decided to venture out for an upcoming afternoon wedding that I am attending. I wanted something fun and flirty--this is what I came up with:

Sold for $27.80 at Forever 21

It's looks a little funky here, but it's really cute!

I also found a really cute button up dress in navy blue with a flower print. It's very dainty (ruffles on the shoulders), and the style looks very vintage. The dress is about the same price as the one above. I'll be wearing it to a bridal shower this weekend and try to take pictures.

Which Store Will Reign in the Rain Boots Department?

The other day I came across a pain of rain boots and thought they were just darling. Here they are:

Today, while surfing a Web site, I came across a smilier pair which you can see below:

I apologize for the pictures not being the same size, but you can see that these boots are very similar. The both have a buckle on the calf, as well as thick soles. Here's the test...which ones do you think are more expensive?

If you chose pair #2, you're right!

The first pair are Women's Merona® Zabrina Dot Rain Boots from Target that sell for $24.99 and the second are $59.95 Chooka Signature Printed Rain Boots from Nordstrom. That's not a crazy difference, but it's over $30.

Upon comparing the details of both boots, the only difference is that the Nordstrom boots' calf buckle adjusts to fit leg sizes--which is great because I have large calves. The Target buckle looks like it is just for design. So in my case, if I were to purchase one of these pairs I may have to go with the Chookas. However, if size isn't an issue I would def go for the cheaper pair.

It's so crazy to me that Fall items are coming out in catalogues already. It's barely summer! I do like the whole rain boot trend that seems to cross all season lines, though. There are so many different styles to choose from now. Check out these awesome pairs, all at Target retailing for $24.99:

There are five pages of rainboots, so if you're in the market for a pair Target is a great option! The only problem is trying to decide which style to buy! I must say, I have my eye on a pair with an anchor design!

Remembering Michael Jackson

Sitting at my work desk earlier and watching the Michael Jackson memorial service, I finally realized he is gone. You get so numb when watching TV that the news has little to no effect on me anymore. However, upon watching so many people pile into the Staples Center to pay their respects for the King of Pop, it makes his death real.

As a young child I was a huge fan of MJ. I had to listen to his tapes to fall asleep at night. It was the only thing that relaxed me. I also had his movies. And don't get me started on Captain Eo and the Disneyland ride! Over the years my obsession grew less and less strong.

Unfortunately the same happened for a lot of people as he was accused of molestation. I never formed an opinion about the claims either way. I guess I felt I didn't know so I had no room to speculate. He was also made fun of relentlessly for his plastic surgery. I'll admit, I thought that he looked scary in the last years of his life. Ultimately he was just insecure and trying to heighten his self-esteem, which must have been damaged by the criticism in the media.

Focusing on MJ the artist, he has influenced and entertained millions and his legacy will live on. The most touching moment during the memorial is when his daughter Paris spoke about her father. It was so sad watching Paris speak about her dad, yet comforting to see Janet embrace her. Other memorable moments included Brooke Shields giving a eulogy that explained their unusual pairing but close bond, and Mariah Carey's rendition of "I'll Be There."

Overall I was very pleased with the ceremony. It was very tasteful and not too over the top.

Visiting a Pal in NorCal

This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting a dear friend in Northern California. My friend and I went to college together and were in the same sorority and both lived in the house at the same time. Since she moved back to her hometown, I have only gotten to see her a few times--so you can understand my excitement. In addition to getting to see my pal, I also got to meet her baby girl, Faith, who is 11 weeks old (see below).

Since I am a total SoCal girl, my friends were nice enough to take me to Tahoe to see fireworks on 4th of July. This was my first time up there so I snapped some photos. Enjoy!

Happy 4th of July!

To all of you in the US, happy 4th of July!

I hope you have a wonderful day and take the time to reflect on the meaning of this holiday. Please take a moment to realize how lucky we are to have the rights and privileges that we do. We may not be a perfect country, but it could be MUCH worse. And most importantly, please give thanks to those past and present who have fought to ensure that we have freedom. Regardless of your views on this war, or the ones past, there are many brave soldiers that are fighting and have fought so that we don't have to. It takes a strong person to have that courage.

As a child I remember singing "Proud to be an American" in school. Now when I think back, the lyrics are so special. Have you ever really payed attention to them? The song was all over radio stations playing as a tribute to those lost on 9-11 and evokes many emotions. Here is the song, written by Lee Green Wood.

If tomorrow all the things were gone

I'd worked for all my life

and I had to start again

With just my children and my wife

I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today

Cause the flag still stands for freedom

And they can't take that away.

Chorus: And I'm proud to be an American

Where at least I know I'm free.

And I won't forget the men who died

Who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up next to you

And defend her still today.

Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land.

God bless the U. S. A.

From the lakes of Minnesota

To the hills of Tennessee

Across the plains of Texas

From sea to shinning sea

From Detroit down to Houston

From New York to L. A.

There's a pride in every American heart

And it's time we stand and say

Chorus: And I'm proud to be an American

Where at least I know I'm free.

And I won't forget the men who died

Who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up next to you

And defend her still today.

Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land.

God bless the U. S. A.

Chorus: And I'm proud to be an American

Where at least I know I'm free.

And I won't forget the men who died

Who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up next to you

And defend her still today.

Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land.

God bless the U. S. A.

Here's a little USA tidbit about another song that's so near and dear to our hearts: “The Star-Spangled Banner” did not become the National Anthem until 1931.

Independence Day passes party lines--so relax, have a cool beverage, watch some fireworks, and enjoy the red, white, and blue!
