Kat Von D, the Face of LA?

My apartment is right around the corner for Kat Von D's High Voltage Tattoo. I can walk to it in under 60 seconds. Until I moved out to LA, I never watched LA Ink. Nothing against it, just had never taken the time. That changed as soon as I became an Angelino. How could I be so close to her shop and know nothing about it?

When I started watching a few seasons ago the only thing I was familiar with was artist Cory Miller, owner of Six Feet Under. He's from a city next to my hometown and actually tattooed my ex. That tattoo and my ex even appeared in Tattoo Magazine, so I know he's a phenomenal artist.

Once I started watching the show, I was hooked. Kat and the rest of the staff are super talented. I also love that she's so young, only 28, and has accomplished so much. And most important, she's herself. Kat doesn't seem to be acting a certain way for the cameras.

She's not perfect - nobody is. She's had plastic surgery so she must have some insecurities. Who doesn't? She's had weight issues. How many of us have been there? She's dated wild men. Haven't we all? I will say, I hope that the "Kat Von D and Jesse James" connections are all false, though.

Even if she is making this huge mistake with James (I hope not. I love Sandra Bullock!), she's hands down the raddest chick in LA. She has so much pride for this city, and I am glad Kat is representing us in a badass way.

Check out her evolution over the past few years. I love how she changes her style up. I wish I had the guts!

Hmmmm. I've never seen LA Ink and don't know much of anything about Kat von D, but I'm not so sure about these looks she's sporting. ;)

I have not seen LA Ink but I did watch a few episodes of Miami Ink when she was on there.

I never got into LA ink either. I used to watch Miami Ink alot though.
Sadly the Jesse and Kat Von D rumors are true. She admitted it in an interview, which is going to put her in somewhat of a bad light for some time I guess.

They're all really talented tattoo artists though and I'd love to even have a pic outside their shop lol.

I searched and searched. Here is the interview where she confirmed (I thought I saw someone commented asking to see it).

That makes me really sad that the rumors are true! Sandra Bullock deserves much better.

However, Kat Von D seems like an awesome, real person. I love how she's herself and doesn't conform to the norm. She is beyond talented! Even though her look is always changing, I think she's so pretty!

I am 100 percent with you. Kat rocks! I love her the best with black hair -- it just works for her. I would love to get a tattoo by her. But I know the waiting list is out of this world. I still like her from back in the day on Miami Ink (but she was fired from there, and they totally had it on TV. Embarassing!), where she got her start. But congrats to her for becoming such a mogul, and showing that female tattoo artists are powerful in the industry. It's not all about the guys!

I have pretty much decided whenever I feel comfortable getting a tattoo I am going to her shop!
Go say hi to her...haha. I have no idea who jesse james is...fill me in please.

I totally love her too! She seems like a cool chick that you would want to be friends with. I liked her on Miami Ink, but really think she has come into her own on LA INK.

Sadly, I think the Jesse rumors are true----people.com has pics of them kissing in Austun.

That is so cool that her shop is so close to your house...I'm sure you recognize a lot of the shots on the show. I guess living in LA you def get more of that than some of us east coasters :(

She is a really cool girl. I think she's so likeable because she's down to earth. Oh, I hope your ex didn't have your name tattoed!

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt because you like her ;)

Seriously, I don't know anything about her, nor have I ever watched her show. Her style is definitely not mine, but if she rocks it like people say she does, then good for her.

I don't watch the show, but I do love her style!

I like her style in the third to last pic the most. Simple yet her wildness lurks in certain places. She's very pretty.

She's definitely had a lot of looks!

I've heard it's official that she and Jesse are dating. And as a Sandra Bullock supporter, I'm not like Kate so much for it.lol :P

I don’t really know a lot about her, other than the fact that my friend Jess loves her. From all of these photos, I can see that she really does change her style which is pretty cool. I probably never watched the show because I’m not into tattoos. I think they’re fine on other people, just not for me :) I know I saw that Kat had a makeup line at Sephora. It looks like she is really going places!

P.S. So sorry I’m just now catching up on your posts. Things have been hectic!
