Resident Tourist: Hollywood

Hollywood, California. My former city of residence. For four years I lived walking distance from the famous Chinese Theater and the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Blvd, which I imagine must be like a miniature version of Times Square. It was a mixture of exciting and frustrating. Famous people everywhere, there's always something to do...but so.many.crazies. Almost everyone wants to be somebody and unfortunately most don't make it.

In addition to living so close to the chaos, I also worked right smack dab in the middle of it. Funny story - although I left the job over a year ago, I'm back for a few months contracting. So I decided to play tourist during my lunch break. I walked the crammed streets and snapped pictures of these landmarks which are all located literally right next to my office. You can get a small sense of the amount of people always walking around from the pictures below. To New Yorkers it's no big deal, but to the rest of the world, fighting crowds just go to Starbucks is a nightmare!

Enough blabbing, without further ado, I now bring you a photo tour of Hollywood Blvd. Enjoy!

Disney's El Capitan Theater - a fancy Disney movie theater I've yet to visit

Marilyn Monroe's feet and hand prints

The famous Hollywood Sign

This is where they film The Jimmy Kimmel show. I've been a handful of times

All day, everyday video crews record people on the street (usually for talk show segments)

Wednesday was the 5th anniversary of MJ's death - his star is always decorated

The Chinese Theater shows regular movies in addition to hosting star-studded premieres

Formerly the Kodak Theater, The Dolby Theater is host to the Oscars

Iconic Hollywood Hotel, former home to the Oscars, The Roosevelt has always been the place to be

It must be cool to be near so much history but i can imagine the amount of tourist traffic isn't always the greatest.

I love the Chinese theater. I think it's beautiful. Love the photos - I recognize quite a bit of this! I was just at the theater where they film Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month!

I've been up and down those streets three separate times and always want to go back. Jacob hates it. Hahah! I didn't know they changed the name of the Kodak Theater.

OMG I didn't realize you were doing work at THAT job. I thought you were doing it at the one you just left. Too funny! You must have a crazy commute everyday.
