Ideas For Styling a Button-Up Shirt

Ideas For Styling a Button-Up Shirt

Over the last three weeks I've featured one classic button-up Old Navy shirt, styled three ways. I had originally bought it for an interview and figured I'd never wear it again but I didn't want to waste the money. So I made an effort to push myself to incorporate the top into my outfits, and in doing so, realized it's a staple that can be worn many different ways.

Here are the versatile looks I came up with: business, casual, and playful.

I'd typically lean toward casual look two, but I am glad I pushed myself out of my comfort zone for the third outfit. What style is your favorite of the three?

A Playful Take on a Classic Button Up

Old Navy button-down

In an attempt for me to cut spending, I've been recycling pieces in new ways to get good use out of items in my closet. For the past two weeks I've styled this classic button-down shirt in different ways. I started with a business look, then a casual outfit, and now I have a more playful take on this wardrobe staple in honor of Valentine's Day. I'm pretty proud of myself since the top was bought for an interview and I figured I'd probably never wear it again!

Let's talk leggings! These are a bit out of my comfort zone but I love the print. I tend to wear a lot of solids and that can get boring so these add a touch of fun. I'm sure you've seen LuLaRoe all over Facebook. Lucky for me, one of my best friend sells it so I've been able to try items on and get a feel for styles before purchasing. Of course the leggings are my favorite because they really are as buttery soft as they're claimed to be. Plus the waistband stays in place, which I had never found 'til LLR.

If you've been on the fence about purchasing, check out LuLaRoe by Jen Torres. She has tons of giveaways and is super helpful!

Sunday Afternoon in Seal Beach

Seal Beach, CA

Seal Beach, California

Located between Long and Huntington Beaches is a tiny seaside town called Seal Beach, CA. Unlike it's neighbors to the north and south, this quaint ocean city is much more laid back and sleepy. There is still plenty to see and do, but it's not as hectic.

I recently had brunch with my friends which made for the perfect Sunday afternoon. We pulled up at 9am and found free parking right away, then leisurely walked the pier before enjoying a delicious meal at The Hangout. The food was reasonably priced, served with a smile, and enjoyed with a mango mimosa and ocean view.

After brunch we strolled along Main Street that is lined with adorable boutiques and candy shops. I picked up some pretty jewelry, along with tasty treats before calling it a day.

It was so nice to enjoy the weekend at a slower pace. Are you a fan of sleepy Sundays are do you like to emphasise the fun in Sunday FUNday?
