Baby Blues BBQ

As many of you know, I recently started eating meat again after several years of varying degrees of vegetarianism. After driving past Baby Blues BBQ, a restaurant in Hollywood located off of Santa Monica Blvd., for the past few years, I decided that it was time to try it out now that I am a meat eater. So last night I stopped by the eatery to give it a try.

It was pretty fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The vibe is super cool. Dim lighting, music, Monday Night Football on TV, and people watching (there were two actors there last night). It's a low key neighborhood hangout and I really dug it. It's an ideal place to go for happy hour with friends. In fact, I plan on returning soon.

And the food? Yum. For real. I chowed down on southern cooking consisting of baby back ribs, sauteed okra, mac and cheese, shrimp, fried green tomatoes, and banana pudding. Does it get better than that? Don't think so. My favorite dish was the banana pudding, without a doubt. It was like eating clouds made of bananas. Yeah picture that. Mmm!

Feast your eyes on these pics I snapped:

Blue Moon

restaurant-made sauces

baby back ribs, shrimp, fried okra, mac and cheese, cornbread

banana pudding

All in all, I am a fan of the restaurant and will be returning to the establishment for many more meals and I encourage you to do the same!

If you are ever in the LA area and want to try Baby Blues BBQ, there are locations in Hollywood and Venice. There are also restaurants in San Francisco and Philadelphia!

Has anyone else ever been to Baby Blues BBQ? If so, how did you like it?

Disclaimer: I was invited to try the food at Baby Blues BBQ and my meal was comped. However, this played no role in my review which is honest and sincere.

  3. Wow all of that looks so good! I was a veggie for 6 years and then I started eating meat so I didn't have to cook two dinners for my boyfriend and I. I guess that makes me lazy...heh.

Now I'm going to be craving fried green tomatoes and BBQ! :)

  8. This post has my mouth watering! Everything sounds so good. I've always wanted to try fried green tomatoes, but it's not something that easy to find at a restaurant in PA. I think it's great they make their own sauces. A Blue Moon sounds like the perfect frothy beverage to wash it all down with :)

  16. Its so interesting that you say you used to be a vegetarian, I am one too, be it a semi-vegetarian. How did you get into eating meat again?

  17. This sounds awesome! And looks so yummy! Though I am terrified of bananas, so that pudding looks and sounded like death...

  18. My goodness, you're such a big time blogger getting invited to all these places and getting stuff comped! I'm impressed. :) I'm also extraordinarily jealous that you got that southern goodness . . . as you know, I wouldn't eat the ribs or the shrimp, but I'd be ALL ABOUT some mac & cheese, okra, and especially fried green tomatoes. AMAZING! That's one of my favorite things in the world. Now you're making me homesick!!

  25. Oh how I love shrimp!

I have heard and read so much about Blue Moon beer. I know it's not available here in Canada so whenever I make it out to Cali, it will be a priority for me to try it.
