I’m so excited to be posting here on Join The Gossip

today! Thanks Leeann for letting me stop by!
If you don’t know me, I’m Amber. I blog over at Glitter and Dirt. I’m a full time single mom to the coolest 7 year old dude. I blog about my online dating “adventure”, CJism’s and just random stuff. I am hoping for world domination in the blogging and event planning sectors.
Although I like to just blog about random things, I figured I would attempt to stay on topic. Ya know…the topic EVERYONE is blogging about right now: Christmas.
But instead of yet another traditions post or what to wear
or what I want post, I figured I would do a fun post about some random facts of Christmas.
I got these from all over the internet…so if a fact belongs to you, claim it!
This is the Christmas card I'm sending out! |
Sending Christmas cards is still
the in thing to do around Christmas time. Americans on average send out 28 Christmas cards to friends and family yearly, and guess what, it's certainly not in vain either, most will receive 28 for the same period! (I’m sending out cards! Let me know if you
want to receive one!)

1 in 10 – The number of the presents received that will be broken by the New Year
7 in 10 – The number of dogs that get Christmas gifts from their owners
33 – The average amount spent per person on last-minute purchases
832 – The number of homes Santa visits every second to deliver all his presents
5340 – Average number of times Visa Cards are used every minute during Christmas time
Forego throwing out your Christmas tree and make it lunch. The Evergreen is actually edible, well most parts of it anyway. In addition, it is nutrient enriched, so if you take the advice
stated previously you'd be getting a good source of Vitamin C and roughage.
Don't mind that you will be eating a tree; it's just one step away from any other vegetable.
It was once believed that any woman who went under a mistletoe and was not kissed would not marry the coming year!
The Christmas abbreviation-Xmas-is thought by some to be sacreligious, but in fact the first
letter of the Greek word for Christ is chi, which is X. Before the invention of the printing press, “Xmas” was often used, in print, to save time and ink.
Jingle Bells" was first written for Thanksgiving and then became one of the most popular Christmas songs.
If you received all of the gifts in the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas," you would receive 364 gifts.
And for all of you single people-this is for you:
In Mexico, wearing red underwear on New Year's Eve is said to bring new love in the upcoming year.
I know what I’m wearing New Year’s Eve!
I hope you all have a great Christmas full of love and cheer!
