Mutual Blogging Appreciation

I've Been Tagged!

Here are six of my unspectacular quirks:

1. I have a phobia of food that touches...it gives me anxiety! And, I eat one food group at a time.
2. I can keep one eye straight while I cross the other one.
3. I don't have the patience to finish reading books...didn't complete one while in college (but still got two degrees baby)!
4. I don't step on cracks...don't wanna break my momma's back!
5. Won't go in the bathroom without the light on for fear of being attacked by Bloody Mary =O
6. I never get thirsty. I'm like a camel apparently...

(Wow...I'm kinda like a 5-year-old still! I need to do some major growing up!)

I’m tagging… Beauty Tyrant, KDC Events, Diary of a Personal Shopper, My Chic Things, The Indian Make-Up Diva, and Another Day in Dallas.

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Engagement Confirmed

Tonight on Extra (the TV gossip show), it was reported that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are engaged.

If the rumors are, in fact, true, the couple's 11 year age gap (get it Mariah!) doesn't seem to be an issue from the looks of her rock! After being spotted with the ginormous ring at the Tribeca Film Festival, the marriage rumors started to fly and now are allegedly substantiated.

But, hello, does anyone remember Nick's not-so-long-ago engagement to Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks?! It's been less than a year since he gave his last fiance a ring that was said to cost $400,000. Apparently a huge, dazzling diamond doesn't always mean a marriage is going to take place in Mr. Cannon's world.

So, who thinks that the two will actually tie the knot?

Things to do in Redding, California

Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking a short trip to visit two of my friends who live in Northern California. After spending some time with my Delta Zeta sorority sister, Elizabeth, and checking out downtown Folsom, I headed up to Redding.

It was my first time in that part of the state (which is nothing like Southern California where I'm from), and my hosts graciously exposed me to the mountains and rivers of the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. Here are a few of the sites that we visited while there:

An old Chinese mining town

The Shasta Dam: the largest overflow dam in the world

The Turtle Bay Sundial Bridge

It was a nice change of pace to get away from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle that I live in and explore the wilderness, although my vacation went by far too quickly. If you are ever in the area, I suggest you take advantage of the beautiful scenery that Northern California offers.

Sorry for Slacking

I haven't really done much with this blog, but I know I need to...and want to! The last two days I have been at the SMX conference in Long Beach with my fellow Beauty Chat/PlasticSurgery.com co-workers learning all about social networking. Hopefully I will get on top of everything and produce a more enjoyable blog for everyone to visit.

Until then, enjoy Jason Castro's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that aired on American Idol a few weeks ago!

New Kids on the Block...Making Their Way Into our Hearts Once More

This year, thus far, has been one concert disappointment after another for me. I am a hardcore 311 fan and see them in every city within two hours of my hometown when they are on tour (yes, it is excessive!). Well this year they come out to Southern California while I am vacationing at Lake Powell, Utah.

And another of my favorite bands, The Bouncing Souls, yeah they were playing last night and I drove for an hour to see them, only to wait in line and be denied entry. And the worst part, the cutoff was about five people in front of me!

So now the only concert that I can look forward to is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at the Hollywood Bowl this summer. Or maybe not? The word is that the New Kids on the Block (or NKOTB as we youngsters call them), are going to be putting out an album AND touring! Can you say mega-reunion?!

When they were around about 14 years ago I was in 1st grade so I never saw them live, but when they do play a venue near me this time, you better believe I will be there!

They are already doing a few East Cost tours and have appeared on the Today Show, so things should be getting underway soon. We'll have to see what the next few months hold for the NKOTB!

My Dawson's Creek Obsession

Yup, the title is correct. I am suddenly smitten with Dawson's Creek. I never got into it while it was on air, despite the fact that all of my friends were hooked, and that the characters were supposed to be my age.

I did, however, catch a few re-runs while I was in college. They inconveniently were played during the morning hours of my classes so I would only see a few episodes here and there, but that was enough to spark my interest.

Now that I have Blockbuster Online, I decided to rent the whole series, all seven seasons, each season consisting of three to four DVDs. It's going to take me forever to finish them all, especially since I only get to rent two videos at a time!

Unfortunately, I know how the last show ends, but I still can stop watching. I actually got home from a night out on Friday and stayed up til 5 am watching the end of season 1...now that's just sad!

By the way, it's so weird to see Katie Holmes, pre-Tom Cruise. I think I like her better at little Joey Potter.

Do any of you have any Television shows that you are addicted to? Please tell me I'm not alone!
