Summertime Travel

Road trip!

I love to travel! This summer I'm headed to NY, Philly and San Francisco, with the possibility of Boston (thanks for the offer Jodi!). Usually I'm flying if I go anywhere, though. California is a huge state with not all that much in between LA and SF. Super boring drive. Plus we're surrounded by Arizona and Nevada. Also super boring scenery. Personally I'm not a fan of the dessert.

One day I'd like to take a road trip up the California coastline. Despite the fact I was born and raised in CA, I've never taken Pacific Coast Highway to NorCal. I need to make that happen stat. It screams summertime travel!

If you could take a road trip anywhere, where would you go?

Target Launches Premium Skin Care Lines

Over the weekend I was honored to attend the Target Beauty Premium Skin Care Launch Garden Party at a private residence in Beverly Hills. Complete with amazing products, delicious drinks, beautiful decorations, and knowledgeable staff, the event was quite the experience!

Target Beauty Premium Skin Care Launch Garden Party

The beauty game has definitely been kicked up a notch at everyone's favorite store. Target premium skin care is comprised of big name brands including La Roche-Posey, Vichy, Borghese and more high-end brands that fall within the moderate to high price range (high for Target, being nearly $60).

The event had four stations - "Rise and Shine", "Fun in the Sun", "Forver Flawless", and "Bedtime Beauty" - where skincare experts helped each guest find the perfect products for their specific skin types and lifestyles. I got the following: La Roche-Posey Anthelios Tinted 50 Mineral (tinted sunscreen), MD Complete Anti-Aging Wrinkle Remover Duo, MD Complete Clear Skin Sunscreen, and Laneige Multi Cleanser. Not sure how I ended up with two sunscreens but i don't use it enough so maybe that's a sign from the universe!

Chop, Chop!

Long Ombre Hairstyle

I've had long hair most of my life. I cut it shoulder length when I was 12 and it took years to grow back! When I go to the salon I only get about an inch trim every other visit because I'm so obsessed with the length. Well, I should say used to only get a trim...

Because I woke up one day last week and decided to cut it short! I called the salon that morning, they had an appointment a few hours later, and before I could think about it or back out I did this:

Long A-Line Bob Ombre HairstyleLong A-Line Bob Ombre Hairstyle

It's a long A-line bob! My hair looks longer in these pictures than it is, the angle is misleading. The side view is pretty accurate though. SEVEN inches were chopped off and I refreshed the ombre to be softer. Even though my hair is lighter overall, I feel like it's darker so I'm getting used to the color just as much as the cut.

It's been pretty shocking. I can't really put my hair in a ponytail, fishtail braids aren't an option, and I feel like it has way more volume due to a few layers she cut underneath. I think I may actually be experiencing frizz for the first time in.my.life. Funny enough, I was more confident two summers ago when I had blue ombre hair!

Everyone keeps telling me they love it. I will, eventually. I'm in the shock stage right now. It's been EIGHTEEN years since my hair was that short. It's a huge change for me. I think when I finally figure out how to master the curling wand I'll love the 'do more. I adored it when I left the salon, so styling it properly is a must. Here are a few more shots of my hair (in outdoor lighting) right after I left the salon.

Weekend Glimpses

Attended the Target Beauty Premium Skin Care Launch Garden Party (more on that Thursday)

A little L'oreal pampering at the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Super Saturday event

Some Angels baseball with great (FREE) seats on a summer-like warm evening

Overall, my weekend was pretty great which was a very welcomed change. The last two-and-a-half weeks have been rough in these parts. My mom was bit by a dog and hurt severely. It was a complete accident in that the dog (a dog that my parents rescued) was going after their dog and my mom got in between, and unfortunately her left arm suffered seven torn muscles and two torn tendons.

I was home when it happened and the whole experience was so scary. I've never seen so much blood in my entire life. *TMI ALERT* The insides of her forearm were literally showing and a tendon was hanging out. She had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital where she stayed for eight days. The bite was infected so that caused complications and she had to have two surgeries to repair the damage. It's going to be at least 12 weeks of recovery but we're thankful she's expected to regain full use of her fingers. There was serious worry that she'd lose some to all of the ability to use her fingers/left hand.

My mom's currently at my grandparents' where they're making sure she doesn't over-exert herself and try to use her arm. Hopefully she'll get to head home this week, though. Thank God I was laid off in February because now I can take care of her!

So that's what's been going on with me. Sorry I've been MIA and scatterbrained. Visiting her at the hospital for sometimes up to 12 hours, almost every day, was mentally exhausting. It's probably going to be just as bad when I start taking care of her, so please be patient with me :)

Kate Spade New York Grove Court Cora

Kate Spade Grove Court Cora (similar - Azure Blue)
Apt. 9 Sweater ($20 on sale, reg $50!)
Old Navy jeans
Michael Kors Watch

Last fall I came across this adorable crossbody and knew I had to have it. While it was darling, I decided to tuck it away until bright colors were in season. Last week I finally took it out of the bag and cut the tags off so I could tote the beauty around. Now it's my go-to purse and I'm excited to carry it through summer!

Unfortunately my bright mint version is currently sold out of all stores. But a similar design is available in a beautiful, bright blue with a few extra stripes. And if you're more of a simple style kinda gal, there's also a Grove Court Cora white/almond version and the very similar black Grove Court Tenley!
