Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

This weekend I got a little Angels baseball in. Actually a lot. The game went into the 12th inning, when unfortunately Anaheim lost. But it was still a great game! The night before they won in the 16th. I guess I picked the right series to attend.

Weekend Glimpses

Attended the Target Beauty Premium Skin Care Launch Garden Party (more on that Thursday)

A little L'oreal pampering at the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Super Saturday event

Some Angels baseball with great (FREE) seats on a summer-like warm evening

Overall, my weekend was pretty great which was a very welcomed change. The last two-and-a-half weeks have been rough in these parts. My mom was bit by a dog and hurt severely. It was a complete accident in that the dog (a dog that my parents rescued) was going after their dog and my mom got in between, and unfortunately her left arm suffered seven torn muscles and two torn tendons.

I was home when it happened and the whole experience was so scary. I've never seen so much blood in my entire life. *TMI ALERT* The insides of her forearm were literally showing and a tendon was hanging out. She had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital where she stayed for eight days. The bite was infected so that caused complications and she had to have two surgeries to repair the damage. It's going to be at least 12 weeks of recovery but we're thankful she's expected to regain full use of her fingers. There was serious worry that she'd lose some to all of the ability to use her fingers/left hand.

My mom's currently at my grandparents' where they're making sure she doesn't over-exert herself and try to use her arm. Hopefully she'll get to head home this week, though. Thank God I was laid off in February because now I can take care of her!

So that's what's been going on with me. Sorry I've been MIA and scatterbrained. Visiting her at the hospital for sometimes up to 12 hours, almost every day, was mentally exhausting. It's probably going to be just as bad when I start taking care of her, so please be patient with me :)

In more positive news...everyone say a big hello to this week's featured blogger!

Saturday night I headed to the ballpark for a good old fashioned baseball game. It was the last game of the Freeway Series, Dodgers vs. Angels, and Angels won...duh. I may have lived in LA and happen to love the city, but I was born in Orange County. Anaheim all the way!

What about you? Did you do anything fun this weekend? Link up and make new friends!

Come back tomorrow for my recap of Grand Turk. It was my favorite stop and I'm excited to share!!

Angels in the Outfield

Last week I finally went to my first Angels game of the season. They got their butts kicked. As in it was 13-0 by the 4th. And it even started drizzling by the 5th. That's when I took off. I've been a fan of the team for my whole life, but rain and a mercy is where I draw the line. Despite all of that it was nice to get out to the park and enjoy a beer.

It always feels good to be back in Orange County.

Be sure to stop by Lena B, Actually and enter to win a $15 Starbucks gift card that I'm giving away!

Angels in the Outfield

Happy Monday! And I can actually say and mean that this week because I have today off :) I plan to continue my long weekend with a trip to a local dog beach. But for now let's talk about how awesome my Saturday was.

My big sis from sorority was in town and treated me to an Angels game. The Angels are my favorite team and somehow I hadn't been to a game all season. Needless to say it was a blast! I finally got to wear my new jersey and take in the atmosphere of a game, all with great company. I mean, c'mon, baseball and beer - there's nothing more American!

Let's Go, Angeles!

I'm super excited to be linking up for my very first Friday's Fancies. AV of Long Distance Loving is so sweet and welcoming and I encourage everyone to link up if they are interested!

I know the rest of the country is all about football right now, but since we don't have a professional team in LA, or the same school spirit as the south, I am more of a baseball girl. Don't get me wrong, I love football, but sports are better when you have a home team to root for. And that's where the Angels come in!

I'm a huge fan of the sport, plus the players are hot in uniforms, AND the added bonus is they don't wear helmets that cover their faces ;)

Speaking of uniforms, here's a game day outfit perfect for the ball park in Anaheim (which was once owned by Disney so it has a pretty cool outfit area with waterfalls!).

What is your favorite sport(s) and team(s)?

Tag Times Two!

This weekend I was lucky enough to be tagged by two beautiful bloggers, Chic and Pink and Fashion Court. Thanks ladies!

I think these posts are fun because you get to learn about your fellow bloggers. We are one big happy (hopefully) family after all.

I'll start out with the Socialite tag from Jules. I have recently started getting to know this amazing blogger. She sends the sweetest, most fun emails and i adore reading them. If you are unfamiliar with Chic and Pink (whose blog name actually has and and symbol, as opposed to the word, but Blogger won't allow), do check it out!

The rules:
1. Click on the above button and paste onto your blog/website
2. Answer the below questions
3. Pass onto 10 bloggers that you Love, go to their blog and let them know they've been tagged

Here is goes... =)

1. Who is your style icon?
Gwen Stefani. I like her look circa the early 90s the best, but no matter what she does, she does it incredibly well.

(I actually have one of her LAMB Rasta bags, similar to this one but in a different shape)

2. What is your favorite socialite lit book?
It’s def not lit, but I must admit (didn’t mean for that to rhyme) that I love The Truth About Diamonds by Nicole Richie.

3. Favorite party theme?
Black and White. Very classy.

4. Go to Halloween costume?
It used to be a schoolgirl.

5. Extravagance you cannot live without?
Eating out. It’s not necessarily extravagant meals, it’s just the frequency and amount overall spent on restaurant food.

6. Living person you admire?
My dad. We are a lot alike. Same personality.

7. Greatest fear?
Heights. I literally get dizzy and nauseous. Stairs with holes between each step—paralyzing for me!!

8. Trait you deplore in yourself?
I argue with my mom too much.

9. Which talent would you most like to have?
Acting? I wouldn’t mind being rich and famous ;)

10. Greatest achievement?
I think it’s pretty cool I double majored in college—print journalism and American Studies.

Next up is the Eight Things tag from Fashion Court. Of course, her blog is a must-read for me, as well as her tweets. This girl is so entertaining--be it a blog post or on Twitter! Please check her out as well.
