Summer Sailstice

I am a big fan of sailing. Nevermind the fact that I've only been on a sailboat once, I still love everything about nautical culture. I think it's the adventure mixed with the sea that really draws me in. This Saturday (June 22) is a worldwide event called Summer Sailstice that encourages people all over the world to get out and sail. Pretty cool right? Since I won't be sailing myself, I can just imagine I'm there right?

Here are some sailing pictures I've snapped from all over the world - from Southern California up to Vancouver, and all the way down under to Sydney. I had to sneak me in stearing a sailboat last summer ;)

I'm Sailing Away

This Saturday was perfection! Along with Kathrin of Shop.School.Sleep. and a few friends I got to finally go on my overdue and re-scheduled sailing trip. It was so much fun! I had never been before and I really enjoyed it.

As you may have read in my previous post, Sunday I'm going sailing! I've never been but always wanted to. It's just not that big in SoCal like it is on the East Coast. So when I saw a Living Social deal for an hour of sailing, I was all over it. Yes. I have a serious addiction to internet deals.

This outfit is over-the-top nautical but that's OK. If you're going to go with the theme I think it's OK to go all out!

I'm Sailing Away

I've been sick for four days now. The flu + a bad sore throat = asthma attacks. Not a good situation. Just hoping I feel a lot better by this weekend because I'm going sailing for the first time ever! I'm super excited to get on the water, but a little scared too.

It's a charter type of deal so we get to help out or sit back and enjoy the ride. With an hour on the water I suspect we'll do a bit of both.

Any sailing pros out there have any tips for me?
